“After the Adjustment…”

There is a period in the Chiroverse that transcends the normal 3-Dimensional limitations within the time-space continuum. This period of time is simply known as:

“After the Adjustment”

“After the adjustment” is not a set period of time which can be quantitatively measured but is very situational dependent.

For example if a patient feels INSTANTANEOUS relief of symptoms that qualifies as “After the adjust.”

On the contrary if there is any unpleasant sensations from the moment of the adjustment till the time period between when the sun phases from Red Giant to White Dwarf and incinerates the Milky Way that also qualifies as “After the adjustment.”

Usually a conversation sounds something like this:

“Doc it hurt the other day AFTER THE ADJUSTMENT.”

“How did you feel when you left here?”

“I felt good.”

“When did it start hurting?”

“ I don’t know maybe Friday.“

“Two days after I adjusted you?”

“Yeah AFTER THE ADJUSTMENT.”

Now human beings are hardwired to think like this because of the evolutionary adaptation of “pattern recognition.” Survival has been guided by us noticing unpleasantries in our lives and correlating then to experiences and avoiding or diminishing those experiences. See Neanderthal neighbors drink cloudy water and get sick, only drink clean water. Makes sense.

But not always. Especially in the case of “After the adjustment.”

“Doc AFTER THE ADJUSTMENT my whole body was sore and I had a fever and vomiting. Was that from the adjustment.”

“Is there anyone else in your family experiencing these symptoms?”

“Yeah my kids have been sick with the flu all week.”

“I see.” 🙄

Now this is not to say that there can’t be some unpleasant feelings with an adjustment. For example a soreness as if you had been working out is common in the initial phase of healing. Equally as common can be the symptoms being initially relieved but, despite me thinking highly of my abilities I don’t posses the healing hands of Christ, and the symptoms slowly return.

It doesn’t matter it was all “After the adjustment.”

Also “After the Adjustment”. PS I once made an assistant re-write this on the Office White Board

This was hammered home recently.

I was adjusting a patient for low back disc herniations for about two months and he referred in his wife who has similar issues in her neck.

He has continuously improved while she has been apprehensive in her first few visits. (She hates the clinically unimportant sound associated with the adjustment.)

They came in the other day and I picked up on the fact that she was more open and friendly. I didn’t immediate pick up on the reason… she had been to a wine tasting that day. 😂

Just slightly tipsy she had a confession:

“I wasn’t going to tell you… because I don’t want this going to your head…”

She paused as if confessing a sin.

“I’ve had an incredible relief of the numbness and tingling in my arms the past few days.”

“It’s probably the wine, couldn’t possible be me.” I joked.

“No” her husband interjected “She told me Sunday night that she was feeling better.”

“The first two adjustments I felt really sore.”

“That’s gotta be my fault.”

“Yeah I blame you for that. But I’m not going to inflate your ego and give you credit for the numbness and tingling disappearing.”

“What about tomorrow if you have a headache and you’re slightly dehydrated?”

“Oh you mean the hangover?” Her husband laughed.

“Oh that’s your fault to.” She quickly retorted.

Obviously. After all it’s “After the Adjustment.”
